Child injured in boating accident on False River

POINTE COUPEE —- A 14-year-old child is in a hospital after severe injuries from a boating accident on False River on Saturday afternoon.

It was approximately 4:15 p.m. on June 15 when Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Acadian Ambulance responded to a boating accident on the river in Pointe Coupee Parish.

“A child was run over by a boat and sustained severe injuries to the extremities,” said Pointe Coupee Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux.

The young boy was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. His current condition is unknown at this time.

No further details have been provided at this time as the case is under investigation by both Wildlife & Fisheries and PCSO.
