PLAQUEMINE — A school bus from Iberville Parish and a minivan collided Tuesday morning on La. 1.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. near the West Baton Rouge Parish line and the Dow tracks. The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office reported “multiple transports,” including some students.
Iberville Parish Superintendent Dr. Louis Voiron tells UWK that nine of the 19 students on the bus were taken to the hospital with what appear to be minor injuries. He added that the students, from MSA West Academy in Plaquemine, were on their way to a field trip when the crash occurred.
Sources also say that an unknown number of people in the minivan were transported to the hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
