City of Gonzales lifts boil water advisory

GONZALES – City officials announced that the precautionary boil water advisory that has been in place since Monday has been lifted Thursday.

The city was awaiting the final water sample results to lift the advisory.

City officials stated on Wednesday that the advisory was issued June 19 due to a temporary loss in water pressure.

Temporary affect on food service

The advisory has caused inconvenience for some in the food service industry.

A manager at Don’s Seafood in Gonzales told UWK that the restaurant has been serving bottled water and soft drinks since the advisory began. The manager explained that this situation has led to increased expenses and additional time.

“We’ve had to order bulk quantities of soft drinks instead of using our drink machines because they mix with water,” the manager said. “We’ve had to purchase bags of ice as we cannot use our ice machine.”

Fast food workers in Gonzales have told UWK that the water issues have caused frustrations for them as well. Some establishments have waived the upcharge for bottled water, but it’s still creating issues.

City officials will notify the public once the sample results are available and the advisory is lifted.
