BATON ROUGE — In a powerful show of unity and faith, pastors, ministers, and state legislators will gather on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol this Sunday, April 6th at 5 p.m., for a special prayer and worship service open to the public.
Hosted by First New Testament Church of Baton Rouge, the Prayer at the Capitol event is a call for residents across the city and state to come together in prayer, worship, and praise for both the city and the nation. Leaders from churches and the legislature will lead the gathering, inviting people from all walks of life to lift up their voices in hope and intercession during a time of widespread uncertainty.
“As our world, nation, state, and city are in the midst of great distress, we desire to honor God by coming together in prayer,” reads a statement from First New Testament Church. “We are fighting a spiritual battle for our world. And the Bible tells us that if we, the church of Jesus Christ, will stand together, firm in one spirit, we can be a clear sign of our enemy’s destruction.”
The church referenced the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians: “…standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents.”
Organizers stress that everyone is welcome—regardless of denomination, background, or political affiliation. The goal is simple: to unite in faith and uplift the city, state, and nation through heartfelt prayer and praise.
The service will be held at the Louisiana State Capitol, located at 900 N. 3rd Street in downtown Baton Rouge.
