GEISMAR — Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a Prairieville man in connection with a residential construction fraud investigation where a homeowner lost more than $225,000.
Steven Ring, 47, is charged with five counts of contractor misapplication of payments over $1,000 and one count of residential contractor fraud over $25,000. All of these are considered felonies.
According to officials, Ring entered into a contract in August 2021 to build a home on Highway 74 in Geismar. Four years later, the residence remains incomplete despite the homeowner’s substantial financial investment.
In their investigation, detectives learned that multiple liens had been filed on the property due to unpaid invoices for the building materials.
The homeowner reported paying for several items—such as flooring, appliances, and fixtures—that were allegedly never delivered. Detectives also discovered that Ring had been arrested earlier this year in an unrelated case in Covington, that also involved contractor misapplication of payments.
Ring was located, arrested, and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on July 21st.
