Convicted sex offender arrested for failure to register

A 42-year-old man was arrested for felony charges of failing to properly register as a convicted sex offender.

Larry O. Murry has past sex crimes convictions for aggravated incest and indecent behavior with a juvenile. The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into Murry on Dec. 22 to see if he was in compliance as a registered sex offender.

His last registered address was in October.

Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies determined Murry was no longer at that address and was currently living in Schriever.

Murry was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

Failure of Sex Offenders to Notify Law Enforcement of a Change of Address / Residence or Other Registration Information

Murry is currently held at the Assumption Parish Jail and is awaiting his bond hearing.
