BATON ROUGE — The driver of an 18-wheeler who lost control and crashed into a guardrail on I-10 Monday morning, resulting in his death, has been identified.
Jamoliddin Tokhirov, 38, was ejected from the truck during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Baton Rouge police. Investigators say Tokhirov lost control, traveled across all lanes of traffic, and struck the concrete guardrail before hitting the outside guardrail.
Police are still investigating what caused Tokhirov to lose control.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on July 22. Photos show the cab of the semi hanging over parts of I-10 eastbound at the base of the Mississippi River bridge near the I-10/I-110 split.
Diesel from the truck spilled onto the interstate, shutting it down for hours.
