An Elayn Hunt Correctional Center corrections officer was arrested Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Deputies charged Master Sergeant Samantha Joubert, 28, of Baton Rouge with malfeasance in office and injuring public records for allegedly falsifying public documents.
On June 2, 2022, officials said an inmate committed suicide at the prison. While investigating the suicide, officials said they found that Joubert documented in the cellblock logbook that she had made routine rounds at the prison, when she had not.
The Department of Public Safety and Corrections turned over its findings to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Joubert remains on suspension pending the investigation.
She is a Master Sergeant and has been employed at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center since April 19, 2018.
