Covington man accused of shooting & killing brother

COVINGTON — St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Covington-area man on May 16 after a fatal shooting at a home on Highway 1081.

Just after 1 a.m. on May 16, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a woman reporting that her uncle had shot her father. Another 911 call came in from the suspected shooter, according to officials.

Deputies responded to the home in the 20000 block of Highway 1081 near Covington, where they met with a 50-year-old man named Frank Jenkins. Jenkins told the deputies he had shot his brother, William Jenkins, 47, after an argument, according to the sheriff’s office. Both men lived on the property

Deputies found William Jenkins at the scene with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies arrested Frank Jenkins and transported him to the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center. He faces one count of second-degree murder.

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office took possession of William Jenkins’ body.
