Update: Fire at Womack’s auto shop in Denham Springs under investigation, Florida Blvd. reopens

DENHAM SPRINGS – Crews actively worked to bring a massive fire at Womack’s Head and Block Shop in Denham Springs under control for a few hours. Florida Blvd. reopened ahead of the afternoon rush as firefighters work to put out hot spots.

The fire erupted around 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the auto shop located in the 2400 block of Florida Blvd., situated between the Amite River and 4-H Club Rd. Viewers tell UWK that the smoke was visible for miles.

Numerous agencies were on the scene, responding to the fire. This is the reason why a section of Florida Blvd. between Rushing and River View Rd. was closed for several hours.

Limited details are available regarding the fire’s origin or the current status, as firefighters are fully engaged in battling the blaze. Photos show charred remnants of the auto shop and significant damage to the structure.

Officials report that, as of now, no individuals have been transported with injuries from the fire.
