Deadly head-on crash under investigation on Hwy. 67

SLAUGHTER — Louisiana State Police troopers are investigating a deadly crash that happened on LA 67, north of LA 412 on Wednesday evening. Edwin Harrell, 34, of Clinton was killed in the wreck.

According to the preliminary investigation, troopers say Harrell was driving his Chrysler 200 north on 67 and entered a right-hand curve. At the same time, a GMC cargo truck was going south on 67, and approached the same curve when Harrell crossed the center line and hit the truck head-on. Troopers are still investigating what caused Harrell to cross the center line.

Troopers say Harrell wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his car and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck and front-seat passenger both had moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Troopers remind drivers to always make responsible decisions when driving, like avoiding impairment, fatigue, and distractions. They also encourage everyone to follow traffic laws and make sure everyone in their vehicle is properly restrained.
