DENHAM SPRINGS — The Central School System has released the identity of a woman killed in a fiery crash in Denham Springs on Friday night.
Leigh Lobello, 50, of Denham Springs, was an art teacher at Central Intermediate School and tragically died in a head-on crash on Feb. 14th on 4H Club Rd.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on 4H Club Rd. near the 1-12 overpass. Denham Springs Police say it was a two-vehicle crash. One of the involved vehicles went up in flames.
Lobello was airlifted to a hospital, but later died of her injuries.
4H Club Road was closed between Rushing Rd. and Bass Pro Blvd. for nearly five hours as officials processed the scene and cleared the roadway.
Officials say Lobello was driving a pickup truck and crossed over the center line, crashing head-on into an oncoming Jeep. It’s unclear why she crossed over the center line. Toxicology samples were taken, per standard procedure. No arrests have been made.
