Council votes to continue fireworks ban in Denham Springs

DENHAM SPRINGS — Fireworks remain banned in Denham Springs.

The Denham Springs city council voted Monday to continue a ban on fireworks within the city limits, mayor Gerard Landry confirms to Unfiltered with Kiran.

The proposed ordinance change would have allowed fireworks during certain hours on New Year’s Eve and Independence Day. But the city council voted 2-3 against making changes to the city’s current ordinance that bans fireworks.

The city’s fireworks ban has been in place for nearly 20 years.

Anyone who is caught with fireworks within the city limits can be fined between $100-500.
