DENHAM SPRINGS — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has released new details into a deadly shooting that happened at an apartment complex early Monday morning. Sheriff Jason Ard updated that deputies are searching for the ones involved in what the sheriff called a “gang-related” homicide. He said the victim was targeted.
It was around 5 a.m. on July 20 when Livingston Parish deputies responded to the Parc at Denham Springs apartment complex. That’s on Highway 16 south of Lockhart Rd.
When deputies responded to the scene, they say they found a man dead at the scene. According to LPSO, the male victim, who has not been identified, was getting in his vehicle to leave for work when he was shot. Multiple shots were fired at the scene, LPSO added.
Investigators say there was a dark-colored four-door vehicle at the scene that is believed to be involved. In addition, multiple people from the East Baton Rouge Parish area are suspected of being involved, LPSO shared.
“We have evidence that leads us to believe this is going to be a gang-related incident,” Sheriff Ard said.
He emphasized that LPSO will not “put up” with gang activity and will do all it can to stop such activity and to solve this targeted homicide.
