Denham Springs Police make arrest in recent shooting

DENHAM SPRINGS — Denham Springs Police officers have arrested a teenager in connection to a shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.

It was around 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Summers St. on June 12. That’s near Cross St. by the Lockhart Park in Denham Springs.

A man was shot in his side after an argument and transported to a hospital.

Jeremiah Garner, 17, of Walker, was arrested Friday evening after DSPD officers worked around the clock to solve the shooting.

“The detectives assigned to our investigations unit have worked tirelessly from the time of the dispatch until tonight when this arrest was made,” said DSPD Detective Sergeant Scott Sterling.

“This is not how we want to start our summer here in Denham Springs but I am proud of our officers, especially our investigators who have worked around the clock, for the work they’ve done so far,” said DSPD Chief Rodney Walker.

Garner is charged with one count of attempted second degree murder.
