WATSON —- A 17-year-old from Denham Springs died after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a pole.
It was just before 8:00 p.m. on December 28, 2024 when State Police Troopers responded to a crash on Hwy. 1019 near Gravesbriar Drive in Livingston Parish.
Jonathan Orellana-Alas, 17, of Denham Springs, died in the crash.
The preliminary investigation reveals that Orellana-Alas was driving a 2007 Toyota Scion, east on Hwy. 1019, just west of Gravesbriar Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota went off the roadway to the right into a ditch and hit a culvert before hitting a utility pole.
Orellana-Alas was properly buckled but died on the scene from his injuries. Impairment is not suspected, but per standard procedure, a toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
