DENHAM SPRINGS —- Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man they say is an undocumented man from Honduras. He faces multiple charges.
It was around 2 a.m. when deputies responded to Whitley Road in Denham Springs for a home invasion.
LPSO says a woman told them a man armed with a gun broke into her home and sexually assaulted her. She was transported to a hospital.
Deputies then began searching for the suspect and found Irlando Giron, 37, along Whitley Road. LPSO says he is also a neighbor of the woman.
LPSO deputies say they did find the gun allegedly used in the crime, reported stolen from Texas.
Giron is charged with first-degree rape, home invasion, aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. He is being held without a bond.
“This appears to be an isolated incident. There was no forced entry found on scene. I want to remind you to secure your homes: lock doors, invest in a good lighting system, make sure any cameras are in working order,” LPSO Sheriff Jason Ard added.
