Denham store clerk shot during armed robbery

DENHAM SPRINGS — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery turned shooting that happened Saturday night in the Watson area.

It was just before 11:00pm on May 6, 2023 when deputies responded to Johnny’s convenience store at the corner of Hwy. 1019 and Fore Rd. in Denham Springs (Watson) for an armed robbery.

Deputies say a 17-yr-old armed suspect entered the store and demanded cash. There was a struggle before the suspect left the store, but detectives were able to find and arrest him.

Officials say the female clerk was shot during the armed robbery of the store. She was shot in the upper chest, according to officials.

She was transported to a hospital listed in critical but stable condition.

The 17-yr-old is charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery.

LPSO said their investigation is ongoing.
