I-10 westbound near Hwy. 415 is shut down after a deadly deputy-involved shooting to save a DOTD MAP driver, who was allegedly being attacked by a motorist. The MAP driver did not survive the stabbing though.
Officials say it was around 11:15am on Sunday, Nov. 20th when a Motorist Assistance Patrol, or MAP, driver from the Dept. of Transportation & Development stopped to help a motorist.
That’s when the motorist allegedly started stabbing the DOTD MAP driver.
Someone passing by happened to see the MAP driver being attacked and called 911. When the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the scene, he happened to see the MAP driver being attacked and shot at the attacker.
Both the attacker and MAP driver were transported to a hospital. Both have died from the injuries.
The WBRSO has now requested the Louisiana State Police to come in and investigate the deputy-involved shooting, which is usually procedure to have an outside agency investigate.
