BATON ROUGE — District Attorney Hillar Moore has opened an investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving an LSU student-athlete and an LSU student. The incident is alleged to have occurred in October 2025, the DA’s office said.
In a press release, Moore said that the matter was first brought to his office for review today, Sept. 22. The assault had previously been addressed through a campus-level investigation and review process, with LSU Police and Baton Rouge Police having information in the matter, the DA’s office said.
The video, posted by an LSU student to TikTok on Sept. 14, includes a student speaking out about what she says happened to her. “I’m here to speak on my story of what happened to me at LSU. So I was raped by a football player at LSU last year in October, Oct. 18 to be exact at around 4:30 in the morning and that day basically changed my life.”
Since the original video, the student, whose name UWK is not releasing, posted an updated video saying she did proceed with filing criminal charges. She started with BRPD, but since LSU is not within their jurisdiction, she was directed to LSU Police. The student recorded her meeting with two LSU Police officers, which is legal in Louisiana because it’s a one-party consent state.
“I’m going to be straightforward with you. In just what I’ve seen, I see issues and I just want to be honest with you. That doesn’t mean he’s not going to be arrested but it could mean he could be arrested and then it’s just…you want to talk about accountability, right? You can ask Detective Revet, we arrest people all the time and what happens? It just doesn’t get prosecuted, and they’ll just dismiss the case,” the two officers told the student in the video.
She said the meeting lasted roughly 90 minutes with the officers “victim blaming” her, despite the student saying the athlete, whose name has not been released, “admitted to it on the record that he did it during the Title IX hearing, they still basically said that there’s possibly nothing that’s going to be done.” The student refused to hold back her true feelings when it came to LSU and sports.
“Sexual assault and rape should matter more than football and LSU is showing that football matters more than anything,” the student recorded in the video.
UWK did reach out to the LSU Police Chief Marshall Walters in response to the student’s claims. LSU did respond with a statement:
LSU confirmed the university is aware of a formal police report being filed alleging a sexual assault, last year, involving a student athlete. The incident, which occurred in October of 2025, was first reported by the student athlete himself, but no criminal complaint was filed. At the same time, LSU properly followed its Title IX policy and processes to a conclusion.
“LSU and its current administration take very seriously any allegations of misconduct involving students on our campuses. Safety and security must be our number one priority,” said President Rousse. “Let me assure everything that this incident has been handled professionally and that LSU has strictly followed our policies, procedures and best practices, including the Title IX process, to guide our actions to date. Now that a criminal complaint has been filed, our role is to continue cooperating with our law enforcement partners as they work through their investigatory process.”
Now that the situation has been brought to the DA’s office, Moore said he’s requested all information and reports from the agencies originally involved in the on-campus investigation. Those agencies include LSU, LSU PD, BRPD, East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office, and more.
The DA’s Office said that because this is now an open investigation on a case involving possible sexual assault, they will have no further comments on the matter.
