DENHAM SPRINGS — An anonymous donor has stepped up to help the family of Jasmine Newhouse in a huge way. Newhouse, 18, was shot in the neck during a domestic incident last month and died from her injuries a week later.

Newhouse’s mother, Twanna Sibley, told UWK that she doesn’t have the money to pay for her daughter’s service and burial. “I’m struggling in so many different ways,” Sibley shared. “She’s gone, and I have no idea what to do.”
After hearing about Newhouse’s death, a donor is covering the entire cost of the funeral. “This was such a tragic event,” the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, said. “There are times when you have to help people. I have the ability to help and am blessed to be able to do this for the family.”
“I am beyond grateful that there are really great people out there still!,” Sibley said. “That someone has made it possible for my baby to be laid beautifully to rest. I’m speechless.”
Newhouse’s visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Brandon Thompson Funeral Home in Denham Springs. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
