I-12 eastbound set for weekend closure at 10/12 split for College Dr. flyover project work

BATON ROUGE — If you’re planning to travel on I-12 eastbound Friday night, brace yourself for potential delays.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is planning to close a section of the interstate to install a new bridge deck for the College Dr. flyover project.

I-12 EB at the 10/12 split (between College Dr. and Essen Ln.) will be shut down from 10 p.m. on Friday, March 22, until 5 a.m. on Saturday, March 23. For those on I-10 eastbound wishing to transition to I-12 eastbound, the alternative route involves continuing on I-10 eastbound and taking exit 160 (Essen Ln.), then proceeding north (via a left turn) and continuing to the I-12 eastbound ramp.

The closure is not expected to affect anyone traveling on I-12 westbound or making the overpass from I-12 WB to I-10 EB.

All construction activities are subject to weather conditions and may be subject to change. Heavy rainfall is forecasted for Friday and Saturday.
