Central: Driver airlifted to hospital following single-vehicle crash

CENTRAL– A woman was airlifted to a local hospital with severe injuries following a single-vehicle accident Monday.

Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran said a vehicle was traveling southbound near the 23000 block of Greenwell Springs Road around 11:19 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27 when the driver hit a culvert and flipped several times.

Two Central Police officers happened to have been behind the crash site and rushed to extricate the female driver out of her vehicle. They kept her stable until EMS and AirMed arrived. She was listed in serious condition as she was transported to the hospital. Her name has not been released at this time.

Greenwell Springs Road is now back open.
