Driver flips car, airlifted to hospital after crash in Central

CENTRAL — A driver was airlifted to the hospital after going airborne and flipping the car multiple times Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Sullivan Rd. between Greenwell Springs Rd. and Wax Rd. by the Cypress Lake neighborhood.

It’s unclear what caused the driver to lose control, but Central Police Department’s Police Chief Roger Corcoran told UWK that the driver hit a ditch before going airborne, flipping multiple times before landing upside down trapping the driver.

Rescue crews were able to get the driver out after shutting parts of the highway down. As of 6:45pm, Sullivan Rd. was reopened in all directions.

The driver’s condition is listed as stable.
