PONCHATOULA — State police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that killed a Hammond man Wednesday night.
State police say Robert Kimble, 74, died in the crash that happened on Interstate 55 near US Hwy 51 at around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
According to LSP, the crash occurred as Kimble was traveling northbound on I-55, and for reasons unknown, he lost control and hit a guardrail.
Officials say Kimble was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained severe injuries. He was transported at the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
As part of the investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Kimble for analysis.
