East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff deputy’s motorcycle run over, search for suspect underway

BATON ROUGE — An East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff deputy’s motorcycle was run over during an attempted traffic stop Thursday afternoon. UWK is told that a search is underway for the suspected driver.

The incident happened just before 1:30 p.m. in the Rouses Market parking lot at Bluebonnet and Perkins. UWK is told the suspect backed over the deputy’s motorcycle during the attempted traffic stop before fleeing. The deputy was able to get out of the way just in time.

While the deputy sustained only minor injuries, his motorcycle suffered significant damage.

The reason for the traffic stop remains unclear at this time, and a description of the suspect has not yet been released.
