East Feliciana: Fatal crash leaves 15-year-old dead, another person injured

EAST FELICIANA — A fatal crash near the Louisiana and Mississippi state line has left a 15-year-old dead and another person injured.

It was around 2 p.m. on Dec. 30th when Louisiana State Police troopers were called out to Hwy. 19 and Thompson Creek Rd. in East Feliciana Parish, specifically in Norwood, for a single-vehicle crash involving a tow truck. Upon arrival, officials found the 15-year-old passenger of the vehicle dead and the driver was rushed to a hospital after they were ejected from the truck. Both were unbuckled, according to troopers.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a 2022 Ford F-550 flatbed tow truck was headed south on Hwy. 19 when the driver went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and went off the roadway to the left where the tow truck hit a tree and overturned.

The name of the deceased will not be released due to the juvenile status.

Troopers say they do not suspect impairment, but toxicology samples were taken to be submitted for analysis.
