ETHEL — Nearly six weeks since a manhunt was underway in East Feliciana Parish for a Livingston Parish man, the suspect has now been arrested in Zachary. He was picked up thanks to a fugitive investigation and a joint effort by the East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office, Zachary PD, State Police and Slaughter PD.
Donald McDonald, Sr., 54, of Walker, reportedly fled from deputies after a struggle during a traffic stop on Oct. 21, 2024. East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s deputies were searching for McDonald after he was allegedly driving recklessly on a motorcycle on Hwy. 10. Deputies attempted to pull him over around 9 p.m. Oct. 21, but officials say McDonald fled on his motorcycle.
When deputies reached the intersection of Hwy. 10 and Hwy. 955 in Ethel, McDonald attempted to make a U-turn. Deputies managed to stop him and get him off the motorcycle, but he escaped and fled into a nearby wooded area. A deputy reported trying to deploy a taser during a brief struggle with McDonald, but he was still able to make it into the woods. It’s why a two-day manhunt was underway in East Feliciana Parish for McDonald.
On Dec. 10, 2024, McDonald was arrested, thanks to numerous departments coming together, in Zachary at a traffic stop. During his arrest, officials say he was found to be in possession of “a large amount of narcotics and firearms.”
McDonald has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison as a fugitive. He is facing charges in Zachary PD as well.
In East Feliciana Parish, he’s facing charges for aggravated obstruction of a highway, aggravated flight from an officer, obstruction of justice, possession of narcotics, and reckless operation.
