EBR Coroner releases autopsy results for girl killed in vicious dog attack

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office released the preliminary autopsy findings for the 7-year-old who was killed after a vicious dog attack on Jan. 6.

EBR Coroner William “Beau” Clark said in a news release that the cause of death for Sadie Davila was the combined effects of blunt force injuries and sharp force injuries due to the dog attack.

Clark wrote the manner of death as an accident.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called in to investigate a deadly dog attack on a small child. EMS and the St. George Fire Department called EBRSO after they responded to the attack.

It happened Friday evening at 6:35 in the 25000 block of Kendalwood Road, off of Hoo Shoo Too Rd.

Davila was transported to the hospital after she was attacked by a dog while at a relative’s home. Officials say she was in the yard playing when the dog “viciously attacked her.”

The relative did try to intervene and hit the dog with a walking cane but that did not stop the dog. Davila was transported to the hospital with multiple dog bites to her face and substantial damage to her skull. She later passed away as a result of her injuries.

Animal Control was notified and has the dog in custody.
