Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 8000 block of Metairie Dr. around 12:45am Monday.
There, they found a man shot in the torso in the entryway of the home. He was transported to a hospital but died there.
Ebonie Hartwell, 29, of Baton Rouge, was arrested and charged with second degree murder.
Once in custody, Hartwell’s arrest warrant said “she became uncomfortable when the victim became verbally aggressive with her while they were at a night club together. As she drove her vehicle back to her residence on Metairie Dr., the victim began to raise his voice at her again. At some point, he got out of her vehicle and she proceeded to her residence.”
The paperwork went on to say, “…the victim arrived at her residence a short time later, to retrieve his car keys from inside of her vehicle. When she opened the door, the victim became aggressive, in that he “brushed” up against her. According to the accused, she “choked” and “strangled” the victim in an effort to get him to leave her residence. Finally she said while she was indoors, she used her firearm and intentionally shot the victim as he stood outdoors, near the threshold of her door.”
Hartwell was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where she’s facing one count of second degree murder.
