EAST BATON ROUGE — A 37-year-old man is in custody after he’s accused of breaking into a home’s tool shed on Monday morning.
It was around 7:20 a.m. in the 20,000 block of Greenwell Springs Rd. when East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for a burglary. That’s just outside the City of Central and north of Wax Rd.
East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies say a homeowner confronted Henry Taylor near the pool house of his property. Taylor is said to have gone into a tool shed and allegedly taken some tools just prior to the confrontation.
Before deputies arrived, the homeowner said Taylor “charged” at him, which is why the homeowner fired a single warning shot into the ground. No one was hit or injured.
That’s when deputies say Taylor ran into the nearby woods triggering a perimeter set up by deputies. Officials waited on SWAT as backup because it was unclear if Taylor was armed at the time or not. When SWAT arrived, EBRSO says Taylor surrendered without incident and walked out of the woods.
Taylor is charged with one count of simply burglary with his bond set at $10,000. He is currently on probation for a burglary charge out of Livingston, La. Deputies added they recognized him from previous arrests.
