Man accused of shooting, killing father and daughter before trying to kill himself in Shenandoah

BATON ROUGE, La. — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says a 63-yr-old man is accused of two murders in Shenandoah after allegedly shooting his own father and daughter Friday afternoon.

The call came in just before 2 p.m. on Friday, March 15 for a person shot inside a home on Bluewater Dr. The triple shooting was in the Shenandoah neighborhood off of George O’Neal Rd.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies say Brent Deloach, 63, is accused of shooting and killing his father Sidney Deloach, 84, and his daughter, Christina Deloach, 30. The father and daughter were found dead inside the home, according to deputies.

After the two murders in the Shenandoah neighborhood, Brent then allegedly turned the gun on himself and was transported to a hospital in serious condition. He did survive his injuries.

Details of what happened in Shenandoah murders

According to deputies, Brent and his father lived together at a home at 5236 Bluewater Dr. Brent’s daughter was visiting the day of the incident. She was seen on surveillance video going outside the home, getting into what appears to be a verbal argument with her dad outside before the two went back in the home. A short while later, deputies responded to the Shenandoah home for the murders.

According to records, Brent Deloach called 911 asking for police saying his daughter and father had been shot in the home. When deputies arrived, they say they saw Deloach sitting on the floor in the den of the home with two bullets in his upper chest.

Deputies noted that his daughter, Christina Deloach, 30, was lying on the floor in the foyer area suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was unresponsive. While checking the rest of the home, deputies found his father, Sidney Deloach, 84, lying in a bed covered with a blanket, shot multiple times in his upper chest. Officials say both Sidney & Christina died inside the home.

Meanwhile, Brent Deloach was rushed to a hospital and taken into surgery immediately. His two bullet wounds were non-life threatening and doctors say he is expected to make a full recovery.

Prior to being transported to a hospital, deputies say Deloach told them an unidentified man came into the Shenandoah home and attempted to murder him and his daughter. Deloach added he returned fire with his own gun, the same gun deputies found at the scene.

However, deputies say they did not find any evidence of forced entry into the home. They also found several shell casings and blood splatters throughout the home.

In connection to the Shenandoah murders and attempted suicide, he’s facing two counts of first-degree murder.

*Brent Deloach has not been released from the hospital at this time to be transported to the EBR parish prison. It’s why his mug shot is not available at this time.*
