Ebrso responding to barricaded man in Zachary

After nearly five hours of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office trying to talk a man out of his apartment in Zachary, officials say one shot was fired inside his unit.

Officials said the man’s wife called EBRSO around 10am on June 29th saying her husband was a threat to himself. She left out and her husband barricaded himself alone inside a unit at the Audubon Place Apartments in Zachary off of Mt. Pleasant Blvd.

EBRSO’s SWAT team was on the scene negotiating with the man for nearly five hours. After hearing one gunshot wound, deputies went inside and found the man responsive with a self-inflicted wound. He was transported to an area hospital.

As a precaution, tenants in nearby buildings at the apartment complex have been evacuated for their own safety.
