BATON ROUGE — Over the past three weeks, the EBRSO Gang Intelligence and Enforcement (GIE) and the DEA investigated a Baton Rouge area accused cocaine trafficker, Alvin Betts.
During the investigation, undercover agents made multiple controlled purchases of cocaine and conducted surveillance of several locations.
In their investigation, agents identified and obtained search warrants for five locations Betts allegedly used in his drug trafficking operation.
On April 24, with assistance from multiple divisions and agencies, agents executed these warrants at the following locations:
- 6376 Beechwood Dr.
- 6013 Victory Dr.
- 3147 College Dr.
- 2436 77th Ave.
- 805 N. Ardenwood Dr. apt. 301
The following seizures were made:
Seized Narcotics (approximate totals)
- 2.25 pounds of cocaine
- 3.7 grams of crack cocaine
- 3.4 grams of cocaine
- 1.1 pounds of marijuana
- 2 dosage units of amphetamine
- 48 dosage units of Hydrocodone
- $200,165 in currency (pending seizure) *Funds from the controlled purchases were recovered commingled with this currency*
Seized Firearms
- Ruger 9mm handgun (reported stolen through Plaquemine Police Department)
- 2 Glock 9mm handguns
Alvin Betts (11/5/1971) was charged with the following:
- Distribution of Schedule II Narcotics (cocaine, 2 counts, affidavit warrant)
- PWITD of Schedule II narcotics (cocaine)
- PWITD of Schedule II narcotics (crack cocaine)
- Possession of Schedule II narcotics (methamphetamine)
- Illegal carrying of a firearm with drugs
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
- Money laundering
- Transactions involving drug proceeds
