After a two-month investigation, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested eight people in a drug bust.
EBRSO narcotics investigated a drug trafficking operation (DTO) in the Baton Rouge area. Officials say the investigation began after agents received an anonymous complaint, which advised Donald Lacour, aka “Dumbway” and Markeith Smith were the leaders of the organization.
The complaint also stated the organization was using an apartment on Rio Drive next to Merrydale Elementary to sell drugs. Authorities say controlled purchases of crack cocaine and hundreds of hours of surveillance were conducted throughout the investigation.
As a result, EBRSO narcotics obtained search warrants for 11 locations in East Baton Rouge Parish and one in Livingston Parish.
