Entergy crews working nearby alerted officials to fire

BATON ROUGE — A home on Donna Dr. went up in flames overnight while the entire neighborhood was without power.

The fire broke out around 2am on Thursday, Aug. 24th at a home in the 9500 block of Donna Dr. Two people do live at the home but since power was out, they were not at the house at the time of the fire.

Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting through the roof of the two-story home. Despite this specific home being deemed a complete loss, firefighters were able to contain the fire to only this home.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. It’s why a Baton Rouge Fire Dept. investigator is now investigating the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.

An Entergy crew that was working nearby to restore power to the neighborhood is who alerted officials to the fire.
