Expect delays on I-10 in Iberville after big rig flips

Around 4am near mile marker 140-141, an 18-wheeler driver ran off the road into the median. Officials say when he tried to get back on the road, he overcorrected causing his big rig to turn onto it’s side.

Currently, it’s in the median and not causing any traffic problems expect for rubberneckers.

However, when trucks arrive to offload what’s on the truck in a few hours, State Police & Iberville deputies say I-10 may have be shut down in both directions.

The flipped big rig is between the Grosse Tete & Port Allen exits. The driver of the big rig is okay.

There is a very small leak at the top of the 18-wheeler, which officials say is normal. State Police’s Hazmat crews are on the scene as well.

Please plan accordingly that I-10 east and westbound may have to shut down for a few hours later this morning.
