Specifically, officials are in Ventress on Morel Ln. at the Morel Trailer Park.

The damage includes two trailers demolished. Both trailers had people inside at the time, one with two people and the second one had one person. All three people have bene transported to an area hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

“It’s truly a miracle they’re alive,” said Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Chief Criminal Deputy Brad Joffrion.

A third trailer flipped on its side.

“It looks like a bomb went off out here,” said Joffrion. “The rain was something like I had never seen before.”

Officials said much of the parish is currently without power and several trees are down throughout the parish.

It’s too early to say whether it was a tornado that touched down in Ventress or extremely high winds. Weather officials will go out in the coming days to access the damage to determine whether it was a tornado or not and if so, the category.
