Family of 7-yr-old boy killed in Denham fire in need of help

DENHAM SPRINGS — The family of a seven year old boy killed in a Denham Springs fire is asking for the public’s help is raising funds for a funeral.

The boy has been identified as Austin Natanael.

According to the lead investigating agency, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire broke out around 12:08am on Monday, June 26 in the Eastover Mobile Home park in Denham Springs. The fire was at a mobile home in the 8700 block of Caliente Avenue.

Natanael’s body was found in a hallway of the mobile home.

Officials have said a woman went inside to get three children but by the time she attempted to go back for the 7-yr-old boy, the mobile home was fully engulfed and she could not get inside.

The family tells UWK that woman is in the hospital herself with burns on her body.

“She had burns, and they are keeping her under observation because she got very bad. She was in shock,” Mariana Alvarado told UWK.

Any donations are recommended to be given to the funeral home directly, Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs. Call (225) 664-4143 and ask to make a donation for: Austin Nathanael Gómez Urbina. Anything collected that is more than the funeral costs will be given to the boy’s mother.

Officials have not released a cause to the fire at this time. It does appear to have started in the kitchen.
