Hammond Police officer arrested

Federal and state agents arrest Hammond officer on multiple charges

HAMMOND — Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents arrested a Hammond Police officer on Wednesday. Both agencies had warrants for the officer’s arrest.

The officer, who has not been identified at this time, had warrants for multiple incidents, including alleged cockfighting activities.

Officials say his charges range from misuse of state computer systems to retaliation against a witness. But agents have not released details surrounding their investigation.

Hammond PD said they cannot comment on the case due to it being an outside agency’s case, including providing the name of the officer. UWK did reach out to HSI for the officer’s name but they have not responded as of publication. His mugshot has not been released either currently.

The officer was placed on administrative leave, per Hammond PD. Hammond PD was notified of the investigation and continues to cooperate with the HSI and LBI.
