#1 Minden

Minden, dubbed the “friendliest city in the south,” offers thousands of Christmas Lights and nutcrackers along with a number of distinct holiday events. Light displays are lit up all throughout downtown. Anyone visiting the town should visit its most famous holiday tradition, the Holiday Trail of Lights!

#2 Lutcher

Lutcher may have the most unique Christmas festival on the river! It offers a prelude to the legendary Christmas Eve Bonfires unique to St. James Parish. The Festival of the Bonfires is Dec. 9, 10 and 11.

#3 Natchitoches

The place is hosting its 96th Annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival this year. It started in November and will continue through Jan. 6. Starting as a one-day festival, the Natchitoches Christmas Festival has evolved into a six-week long Christmas season.

#4 Opelousas

This event in Opelousas lights up Le Vieux Village, a collection of old St. Landry Parish buildings dating from the 1700s. This may just be one of the best Christmas light displays in Louisiana.

#5 Alexandria/Pineville

This is another place jam-packed with holiday events. The award-winning holiday festival AlexWinterFête returns to Alexandria Dec. 8-11. Some of the activities include: an outdoor ice skating rink, Santa’s village, live music, Ugly Sweater 5K and fireworks display.

#6 Monroe/W. Monroe

The Christmas on the River celebration in Monroe-West Monroe has parades, fireworks, dancing lights, live entertainment, and more.

#7 New Orleans

The Christmas in the Oaks light display in City Park in New Orleans attracts long lines and big crowds throughout the season. The light display runs through Jan. 1.

#8 Shreveport

The Christmas in Roseland display in the American Rose Center shouldn’t be missed in Shreveport.

The American Rose Center is transformed into a whimsical winter wonderland from the day after Thanksgiving until the weekend before Christmas.

  • Featuring thousands of twinkling lights, dozens of lighted displays, giant Christmas Cards to the Community, nightly entertainment, photos with Santa, and fun for the whole family.
  • Christmas in Roseland is a participant in the Holiday Trail of Lights tour.

#9 Lafayette

The Noel Acadien au Village offers a lot of amazing lights and more. Add this Christmas light display in Louisiana to your bucket list. The village is open from Dec. 2nd-23rd 5:30 p.m-9 p.m. every night, weather permitting.
