Fight leads to shooting at Baton Rouge Brec Park

BATON ROUGE — At least one person was injured after a shooting where a gunman opened fire on a group of people in a Brec Park after a fight.

The incident happened around 5:30pm at the Anna T. Jordan Brec Park. That’s in the 1700 block of Stilt St., nearby Hwy. 19 between Harding Blvd. and Rosenwald Rd.

UWK is told that there was a fight inside the park between a group of people. One person is said to have gone to his vehicle, where he retrieved a gun and opened fire at the people he was arguing with.

When officers arrived, they’re said to have found a few vehicles that had bullet holes as well as shell casings from the shooting.

Immediately following the shooting, someone called 911 saying they had been shot at the Brec Park but were now at a business on Scenic Hwy., roughly a mile from the shooting scene.

Officials say the victim did not want to be transported to a hospital.

No further details have been provided into the shooting or if any arrest(s) have been made.
