St. Tammany firefighters save dog stranded near Bayou Paquet Bridge

SLIDELL — A Slidell dog is safe and back home after going on a big adventure earlier this week. On Thursday, St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 posted about Juneau’s journeys on Facebook.

According to the fire district, someone noticed the dog stranded on an island near the Bayou Paquet Bridge Thursday morning and called the department for help.

The team at Station 15, DC1, and FP17 created a plan that involved a 24-foot tall extension ladder to get the dog back to safety, and it worked.

The fire district used a microchip scanner to identify Juneau’s owner, who was able to pick the pup up.
