BATON ROUGE — Bundle up! Our first real taste of winter may be on the way.
The National Weather Service says the coldest temperatures of the season are expected late Monday night into Tuesday morning, with several hours of freezing temperatures possible for areas along and north of the I-10/12 corridor. Some of the bayou and river parishes could also see a brief freeze lasting 1 to 3 hours.

Forecast: What to expect
Even where the mercury doesn’t dip below 32°, it will still feel like it. Wind chills near or below freezing are forecast both late Sunday night into Monday morning and again late Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for a morning low in the low 30s before warming into the low 60s by afternoon. That’s still well below the average high of 73° for this time of year.
Meteorologists say this first freeze of the season is a little earlier than average. The Capital City typically sees its first freeze around Nov. 24, though records show the earliest came on Oct. 27, 1898, and the latest didn’t arrive until Feb. 8, 1922.
Forecast: Rest of the week
Warmer weather will make a quick comeback, though. By Wednesday, highs rebound into the mid-70s with sunshine continuing through the end of the week. Another mild weekend is ahead, with highs near 80° and a few scattered showers possible by Saturday night into Sunday.
