ASCENSION PARISH — A former Baton Rouge Police officer is behind bars in Ascension Parish after he’s accused of domestic violence. He was previously arrested in 2023.
Ascension Parish deputies arrested Jason Dennis, 30, on domestic violence and cruelty to a juvenile charges on Sept. 29. The incident occurred around Sept. 10, records show.
According to arrest records, Dennis is charged with cruelty to a juvenile (nonviolent), domestic abuse battery—child endangerment, and domestic abuse aggravated assault—child endangerment. His bond is set at $25,000.
Dennis had previously been an officer with Baton Rouge Police less than two years. He resigned from his position in October 2023 following accusations of sexual assault. His resignation came just ahead of his pre-disciplinary hearing and two days after UWK‘s investigation, where Dennis is accused of raping a woman after responding to a domestic violence call and then lying about it in his report.
