Former LSU football star Kayshon Boutte charged in underage sports gambling scheme

BATON ROUGE — Former LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has been arrested for allegedly using an alias to illegally bet on sports while underage, according to Louisiana State Police.

Boutte, who is now 21 and a WR with the New England Patriots, was charged with a felony count of computer fraud and a misdemeanor count of gaming prohibited for persons under 21. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail Thursday.

Investigators believe Boutte participated in sports gambling from April 2022 until May 2023 when he was 20. They say Boutte placed over 8,900 wagers and that at least 17 were on NCAA football games. Six of the 17 wagers were allegedly on LSU football.

“During this period, Boutte used an alias to circumvent the legal age required for placing sports wagers in Louisiana,” LSP said.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and Boutte may face additional charges.
