Former substitute teacher arrested for sex crimes

Cameron McKnight

HAMMOND – A former Tangipahoa Parish substitute teacher was arrested and charged with several sex crimes.

Authorites arrested Cameron McKnight, 26, after the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of alleged indecent behavior between a high school educator and students.

Officials say TPSO received a complaint on Feb. 27 regarding McKnight, a part-time athletic coach and substitute teacher who had allegedly been speaking with students about the number of women he had prior sexual relations with.

TPSO detectives confirmed the allegations and arrested McKnight on indecent behavior with juveniles and prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student charges.

Officials say McKnight was not employed at any Tangipahoa Parish school when the complaint was filed.

Anyone with information about these or other occurrences related to McKnight’s behavior with students should contact Detective Henry DeJean at 985-902-2099, OR Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous.
