A former Zachary High School student was arrested after police say he vandalized the school he graduated from.
Shyron White was charged with terrorism, criminal trespassing, criminal damage to property and aggravated assault, according to Zachary Police Chief Darryl Lawrence.
Lawrence said on Feb. 1 Zachary High School officials notified the school’s resource officer that someone had vandalized the school the night before. Officials say a suspect dressed in black vandalized exterior doors around the campus.
Police also say that White left a letter “expressing his displeasure with Zachary High School.” They say in the letter he demanded 7-million dollars or “he would commit violent acts,” police said.
After identifying the suspect, law enforcement obtained a warrant and with the help of the state police fugitive task force, authorities arrested White at his home in Livingston Parish.
He was booked in the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a fugitive warrant from Zachary.
White played football, basketball and ran track at Zachary before graduating in 2017. He was on the 2015 state championship team. He earned first-team all-district honors at tight end his senior season. He also played wide receiver at Southeastern Louisiana University.
