UPDATE — Baton Rouge Police now confirm they have found the body of a missing man from Addis. It was around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9th when BRPD officers had been canvassing the area, when they came across the body. Marcus Spears’ body was found in the woods along Mason Ave. in Baton Rouge.
BATON ROUGE — Marcus Spears, an Addis man, has been reported missing in two different cities and officials say ‘foul play is suspected’ in his disappearance.
Marcus Spears, an employee of the East Baton Rouge School System, was reported missing by his roommate to Addis Police on Oct. 7, 2024. His vehicle has since been found on Avenue L in the Scotlandville area in Baton Rouge with sources confirming to UWK that ‘blood was found inside the vehicle.’
Addis Police Chief Jason Langlois tells UWK that Marcus Spears, 55, told his roommate on Saturday night that he was headed to Baton Rouge. Sunday morning however, he did not return home, at which time his roommate reported him missing. On Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, Spears did not show up to work at the EBR Schools.
Since then, his vehicle has been located in the Scotlandville area of Baton Rouge.
Baton Rouge Police is leading the investigation into the disappearance of Marcus Spears and told UWK that for now, they’re investigating the case as a “missing person.”
Anyone with information on Spears’ whereabouts or any information that could help police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
