Four adults, three juveniles arrested for vandalizing old East Feliciana Middle

CLINTON — Four adults and three juveniles have been arrested and charged in connection with vandalism at the old East Feliciana Middle School last month.

Sheriff Jeff Travis stated that video evidence shows the seven suspects damaging the school, which included breaking a window, damaging ceiling tiles, discharging a fire extinguisher, and throwing furniture against the wall.

Ty Shaffer, 20, of Zachary, Zayne Landry, 19, of Liberty, MS, Jackson Day, 18, of Clinton, Charles Hunt, 18, of Clinton, along with three unnamed juveniles, were charged with criminal trespass and felony criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $12,000 for each suspect, according to the sheriff.

Detectives indicated that the damage at the old middle school on Hwy. 67 north of Clinton occurred during the night of April 6 or the early morning of April 7. Although an exact amount of the damage was not provided, it is reported to exceed $1,000.

“All EFPSO criminal investigations are conducted with diligence, integrity, and thoroughness.
This investigation was no exception. For distinct reasons we are often unable to release
information about an investigation until the investigation is completed. I can only ask that the
public be patient and let the investigations run their course,” the sheriff said.

Booking photos of the suspects were not provided due to Act No. 494, which places restrictions on mugshots released to the media for most offenses with exceptions for certain violent crimes.
